Agriculture, Markets, Migrants and the Urban System in Katsina State

Agriculture and markets in Katsina state have played a key role over the centuries in shaping rural landscapes and food production as well as trading routes and urban centers. Today, the connections between agriculture and urban systems are evident in the key role regional food systems play in shaping food security and employment in both rural and urban areas. 

This research report seeks to better understand the functional linkages between urban agglomerations and agricultural producers to inform improved delivery of infrastructure and policies that support food security, economic diversification, and sustained regional economic growth.
